"Wherever and however you intend to give birth...
"Wherever and however you intend to give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body and your spirit for the rest of your life." -Ina May Gaskin
I really believe this. People spend months and years planning their wedding day down to the very last detail, but because weddings end up being so busy, you have so many guests to greet, all the food and dancing...you end up forgetting the little details. It starts to fade. You remember the big stuff, but it all starts to blur together.
The thing is, I have never encountered a mother who has forgotten the details or how she was made to feel during her births. When people find out what I do, they often offer their stories to me and they also tell me what they regret, what they would have done differently. Most people will tell me they wish they would have known xyz....they wish they would have known that they had the right to say no, that they had a choice about abc.
I have heard women in their 60s and 70s telling me about their birth experiences in very vivid detail.
So I don't just have this quote on my marketing materials for no reason. I really believe that carefully planning for your birth and becoming informed about your options and planning it out the way you would your wedding day will absolutely benefit you and your mental health for the rest of your life.
It is really THAT important. I would encourage you to seek out all the information you can before going into labor because no doubt about it, the experience WILL impact your emotions, mind, body and spirit for the rest of your life. And you deserve to have good memories of bringing your child into this world. I believe that and I want that for you.
