It might sound like a stretch, but hear me out. Preparing for your amazing birth includes:
1. Researching and being confident in your choices and your human rights as a birthing person. (A little bit of confidence in motherhood changes the whole game forever...)
2. Finding and interviewing providers who practice in alignment with your personal philosophies and values and discovering what those philosophies and values are if you don't already know. (A skill you will need when seeking a doctor, childcare provider, education, etc for your child...)
3. Learning to use your voice and advocate for yourself and your baby. (Speaking up for your child will be a common thread your entire mothering journey)
The fact is, birth is your first opportunity to mother your child. If you are a first time mother, childbirth preparation IS motherhood preparation.
If you already have children, birth classes can be a form of self-care, allowing you to focus on your current pregnancy, the baby growing inside of you, to address your fears, questions and concerns, to spend quality time with your partner and to prepare mentally, physically, and spiritually for your next birth.
For you, childbirth preparation is about filling up your own cup so you can pour into your family.
It's step one on the journey, I'd be honored to be your guide…
